The Rise Reclaimed Movie Set Wood Fountain Pen

About The Line

Building on the GW Pens movie set memorabilia line of pens, The Rise Reclaimed uses wood that was originally parts of set props in The Dark Knight Rises. 

The Dark Knight Rises is the third movie in The Dark Knight trilogy, directed and co-written by Oscar award winning director Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight, played by Christian Bale, faces Bane, played by Tom Hardy. Some of the most recognized scenes from this film take place in the prison Bane was in, which is where your pen's origin story begins.

Barndoormedia was contacted to provide props for the movie, including wooden stools used in the prison scenes. After filming wrapped, they sold off some of those props. I'm proud to say I have been able to acquire what remains of the wooden stools.

About The Pen

Once the wood was received, it was sent out to be stabilized. Stabilizing removes air from the wood and infuses it with a resin so the piece can truly be heirloom quality. While being stabilized, it was also impregnated with black dye. The wood itself was a very light, creamy color that had been stained brown on the outside, but there was no way to really preserve that very thin layer of stain. So the decision was made to make the wood more dark and gritty, fitting with The Dark Knight theme as a whole.

The fountain pen captures the two sides of the coin that are The Dark Knight and Bruce Wayne, recognizing the two are inextricably linked and show through the form of each.

The cap for your fountain pen features the reclaimed wood, lined with resin for added stability. Because The Dark Knight's suit was Kevlar dipped in Titanium, it seemed fitting to use actual Titanium for the centerband. The smoky gray of the Titanium is a beautiful aesthetic match with the black and gray gradient of the dyed wood. All of this has been giving a satin finish. The roll stop, blackened sterling silver with a faceted CZ stone, is a touch of Bruce Wayne shining through.

The body of the pen is a black Italian acrylic that has flashes of silver flecks throughout polished to a high gloss finish. Extending from the body is a polished black ebonite section with black JoWo 6 nib in Fine tip, all exuding the glitz and class you would expect from the ultra wealthy Bruce Wayne. The angular design of the pen body is where we see the Dark Knight represented, with those angles reminiscent of the angular bat designs seen throughout the movie.

The pen accepts standard international cartridges and includes a Schmidt K5 converter.

Your Rise Reclaimed Fountain Pen comes in a pen box and includes a New Owner's Packet detailing the Lifetime Warranty  as well as general care tips. It also includes a booklet detailing the movie, the materials, and the design as well as the Certificate of Authenticity.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the natural variations in wood, no two pens will look alike. There will be differences in grain pattern as well as the amount of black dye each piece of wood absorbed during the dying process since this was not applied as a top coat stain, but rather infused directly into the wood fibers.
