GW Pens proudly offers this fantastic piece of history, a rollerball pen made from the famed Salem Oak. Please note: Due to the high demand, we do ask for payment in full at the time of placing your order. Each pen body will look slightly different due to the nature of the wood.
The Mighty Salem Oak was approximately 600 years old when it came down in 2019. Towering at over 100 feet tall with a diameter more than 8 feet across, the canopy of this giant stretched out to cover more than 1/4 of an acre.
Though many locals have their own story about the Salem Oak, one of the most well known is that of John Fenwick, the Quaker founder of Salem. It was beneath this tree that he met with leaders from the Lenni Lenape tribe in 1675 to sign a peace treaty. A treaty that has never been broken.
The pen itself has been redesigned from the original version offered. This rollerball pen features an etched chrome plated cap which screws on to close, or can slip onto the rear of the pen body to post. This version now includes more of the Salem Oak than the previous, while still using the same high quality German made Schmidt 5888 ink cartridge. The wood has been treated through a special stabilization process and finished with a liquid acrylic shell, culminating in a truly heirloom quality pen. Certificate of Authenticity is included with the New Owner paperwork. A portion of each sale is being donated back to the Salem Friends Meeting.
Quantities are Very limited.
